Saturday, April 28th, from 9am – 1pm, our good friends Grant and Julie Maniér will be at the Houston Zoo with their new children’s book, “Grant the Jigsaw Giraffe – Different is More.” This event is being hosted by the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Program and the Houston Zoo. Come early, meet the writer and illustrator, and receive a complimentary paperback version of Grant and Julie’s book, while supplies last.
In the story-line, Grant the giraffe is the newest baby to be born at the city zoo. Grant appears to be a regular giraffe until the other animals notice that there is something different about the way he looks. His spots aren’t spots at all—they are shaped like jigsaw puzzle pieces! As Grant grows up and spends time with the other animals, they learn that he is different in many other ways. Follow Grant’s journey as he sets off to discover his special talent and not let his differences stand in the way of his big dreams. Get ready to be amazed by this young giraffe and discover what different minds CAN do. The story is based on Grant Maniér’s real life circumstances living with special differences. Both followed their dreams, despite their challenges.
Grant Maniér (maun-YAY), a young talented Eco-Artist combines his two worlds: autism and art. His obsession with paper became his form of art therapy. Grant is changing the perceptions of how to reduce, reuse, and recycle by creating extraordinary collages using thousands of pieces of recycled calendars, magazines, posters, puzzles and more. The Nations Law Firm is proud to sponsor this amazing young man as he continues to spread his message of acceptance, hope, and eco-responsibility.
